Australia-US Pacific Women’s Empowerment Policy Dialogue: Stopping Violence Against Women

PPDVP Programme Manager Cam Ronald, joined government, non-government and agency officials in Canberra on the 3 to 5th November to consider how Australia, US and New Zealand could support their activities to address violence against women in the pacific.

Cam said “This was a great chance to have the people working at the sharp end – such as the crisis centres, police, policy developers and others – to come alongside the supporting agencies and funding agencies for the pacific.  There was a great sense of positive enthusiasm which ensured the success of the two days.”

The dialogue was an initiative of the Australian and US governments and was led by US Secretary of State Hilary Clinton and Australian Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd, following agreement to progress this at a recent APEC Ministerial Forum.
