PPDVP Regional Workshop commences – Newsletter #1

The first PPDVP Regional Conference for police and NGO’s commenced in Nadi on the 11th October with over 50 people attending from 15 countries.

A highlight of the day was a powerful presentation by Vic Tamati who outlined his voyage and life in a family where violence was the norm and how he carried this through to his own loved ones.  Vic discussed how he came to realise the harm he was causing and how he took himself to counseling to overcome this.

Country presentations were provided by Guam, Nauru, Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, and Palau.

The conference produces a daily Newsletter which is available at

Day One Newsletter

The conference continues to Friday the 15th, with further country reports and  session from the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre, and demonstration of this website, today.
